We are very excited to tell you that this week your child will bring home their first reading book from school. This will be a picture book. This type of reading book provides endless possibilities for your child to develop their understanding of reading books.
We use see, think and wonder in school.
Below are some questions that you could ask your child.

What can you see?
What are the names of objects within the picture?
Where can you see them?
Why are they being used?
How many are there?

What do you think?
What do you think is happening?
What do you think is going to happen next?
What do you think the characters are saying?
What do you think the characters are thinking?

Wonder.
When looking at the pictures encourage your child to use their imagination and wonder… These are more open ended questions that your child will think of and explore their curiosity.
