Sounds of the week: ure and er. We are revising these sounds to read and write words such as pure, cure, lure, hammer, letter, better.

Words of the week: were, there, little, one and do. We are practising reading and spelling these words independently.

We have been exploring printing and collaging  using tissue paper with a special visitor. Ruth Pigott is an artist who has been kind enough to come in to do a workshop with us. We have created some Marvelous mini-beast art.

This week we are revising the trigraphs ear and air in order to read and write words such as hair, stairs, hear, fear and many others.

Words of the week:

We are practising to read and write: have, like, some, come, was and you.

It it would be very helpful if you can practise these at home regularly with your child.

We had a special visitor called Mags. She is from animal intuition. She shared lots of her mini-beasts with us. We got to hold some of them.

This week we have been learning to read and spell the high frequency words: some, come, were, there and little.

We have also been reading and writing cvcc words e.g. damp, golf, daft, gust and felt using the sounds: s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c,k,ck,e,u,r,h,b,f/ff,s, j,b,v,w,x,y,z/zz and qu.

We  have also been practising using the digraphs: ur, ow and oi to read and write words.

This term we are learning about mini-beasts. We have talked about what mini-beasts we can find around our school. We have written our own lists and done a mini-beast hunt. We are very excited about our visit from animal intuition on friday.

The easter bunny left us some footprint activities to do in our classrooms. We had to complete three of the activities to be able to do the easter egg hunt. We had to find numbers 1-10 on eggs around school to win a box of eggs for our class. We all managed to do it!

We went to our village church to learn more about celebrating easter. We had a lot of fun at the church. We did an artefact hunt to find objects that are used in the church, designed our own stained glass windows, wrote our own prayers, looked at books about easter and talked about how we celebrate.
