Camo day

https://www.ssafa.org.uk/fundraise/camo-day

On Friday 24th June the school council will be holding their charity day. This will be for the SSAFA charity and we will be joining in with their annual camo day. On the day children will be coming in to school dressed in camouflage in exchange for £1 donation towards the charity.

There will be an assault course (a member of the RAF will be in to help us with this!) for classes to take part in throughout the day.

We hope it is a fun day and we raise lots of money for a fantastic charity.

Thank you

The School Council

Mini Beast Celebration Success

Wow! What a way to end such a successful term in school. We are so proud of all our Foundation Children who sang beautifully and paraded their hats in style.

It was so wonderful to see so many families able to join us to celebrate the end of a brilliant learning journey. We are sure you will agree that the standard of their mini beast clay tile masterpieces was exceptional. Their Year 1 books showed how much they have progressed in their writing from the beginning of the year and their fact files were wonderful to read.

At the picnic the children were eager to show you their cakes and biscuits but we are not sure many wanted to share them!

We are so proud of your children and we are sure you are too. image image image image

Supporting your child to reach the end of year expectations.

Literacy

    .

We are continuing to revise all of the phase 2 and phase 3 sounds taught to date. It would be extremely helpful if you can continue to practise recognition and recall of formation for these at home with your child. Please see attached letter formation sheet.

    Phase 2 sounds: s,a,t,p,I,n,m,d,g,o,c,k,cl,e,u,r,h,b,f/ft,l/ll,ss.

    Phase 3 sounds:
    j,v,w,X,y,z/a,q,u,ch,sh,th,ng,ai,ee,igh,oa,oo,ar,or,ur,ow,oi,
    ear,ure,er.

We are also practising reading and spelling words this term. Please see attached word sheet.

We are also at the point in the year when your child should be writing at least one simple sentence to describe a picture/event independently. Please practice activities at home where your child can show you if they are able to do so. If you have any concerns please see one of the FS team.

    Mathematics

We are practising finding one more and one less than any number to twenty, doubling and halving numbers to twenty and solving simple addition and subtraction problems. Please support your child’s mental recall of number facts in order to support this.

RSPCA charity day.

A big thank you on behalf of the school council for all your kind donations for RSPCA.

Your children looked fantastic dressed up as a variety of animals to raise awareness of the charity. The children enjoyed their very own ‘cat walk’ arranged by the school council who judged the costumes. They were impressed by everyone’s costumes and their poses and animal movements and noises too. They found it very hard to choose.

Sounds of the week.

We are so proud of the progress the children are making in their phonics work.

We have lots of fun whilst learning our new sounds and consolidating previous sounds each day.

We hope they tell you about all the reading and writing they have been doing and all the songs we sing together and get you to sing too!

World Book Day

We have had a wonderful day today celebrating world book day.

The Year 5 children came down to Foundation Stage so we could share  books. The year 5 children introduced themselves and then read them books of their choice. Our children thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The Key Stage 2 children then asked ours lots of questions about books to find out the type of books that they enjoy and why. Lots liked rhyming or lift the flap books, some preferred non-fiction to stories but all had lots of ideas.

The Year 5 children returned to their classes to make each child an individual book based on their preferences. They will be coming to visit us again soon to deliver their books. How exciting will that be?

the children had many opportunities throughout the day to share the books they brought in from home with their friends. It was a lovely day. Each child has been given a £1.00 off voucher towards the purchasing of a book to take home with them today. image image image image image image image image image image
